Today I embark on a short journey up north to Santa Fe to ride to Albuquerque with my dear friend Alex.
This would be our third time doing this trek. We’ve also rode a century together in 2021. So heads up, Alex is the go-to for any bike adventure.
On this trip it was decided to take the Rail Runner from downtown Albuquerque to the 599 stop just outside of Santa Fe. This would allow for quick access to Highway 14. For those who don’t know, Highway 14 will take you on the east side of the Sandia mountains with picturesque views of New Mexico through Madrid and Sandia Crest back into Albuquerque.

The game plan today is to stay in Zone 2 and keep up my cadence around 95 rpm. Yesterday was a strength training that kept my rpm’s in the 60’s, but we shall see how these legs will fair on the climbs.
I’m pretty excited for this ride as I’ll be using my newly installed power meter!
